Legend of the Phoenix

The story is set during the Eastern Liang dynasty. Circus performer Ye Ningzhi (He Hong-Shan) enters the palace and stages a performance to celebrate the birthday of the empress dowager. She is framed for treason by the ambitious grand princess, but saved by the strategist Wei Guang (Xu Zhengxi), who falls in love at first sight with her. Two years later, Ye Ningzhi is chosen as the empress’s maid and enters the palace again. She refuses to sacrifice her conscience in the face of power, and stands up for her fellow servants. Her courage and integrity earns the trust from the empress, but it catches the eye of the emperor, which puts her in a dangrous situation. Meanwhile, she finds herself drawn into the grand princess’s conspiracy to usurp the throne.
